Registration is now open for Golden Arrow Youth Leader Training 2018. Golden Arrow is a training weekend members of the troop section, generally ages 12–14, who are in leadership roles such as Patrol Leader and Assistant PL.
During the weekend, participants will be challenged with activities which will help them develop and reflect on their leadership skills, both inside and outside of Scouting. They will return with the skills and confidence they need to built their patrols and troops into effective teams.
Major program themes include styles of leadership, traits of an effective leader, troop structure (patrols, Court of Honour), cooperation, communication, problem solving, and building team spirit. The weekend is also an opportunity for sharing ideas between the various troops that attend. Maturity is required and participants must usually be second year or older.
Scouting Waterloo Region is hosting Golden Arrow on November 23–25, 2018 at Camp Heidelberg. Youth may attend with or without an adult from their troop. Youth may bring a tent and sleep outside or sleep in the heated cabin. Food and equipment are provided. Adults are invited to attend to observe or to be part of the training team.
