Canoe Training & Certification Camp 2019

The Canadian Traditional Scouting Association is presenting another opportunity to take canoe training and receive Paddle Canada certification through Grand Experiences. The camp will be June 21–23, 2019.

At this time, we need to establish how many people are interested in participating. The following courses will be offered; follow the links to see details about each course:

  1. Waterfront Canoe Skills Certification, $33. This 2 hour course would be appropriate for anyone who has never been in a canoe before. It is very basic!
  2. Canoeing Basic Skills Certification, $53
  3. Lake Canoe Skills Tandem Introduction, $73

Please note that many of us have acquired canoeing skills through many years of experience. The above courses are being offered at reduced rates and with those, our expectations should be adjusted as well. This training and certification can almost be viewed as testing for the purposes of receiving certification rather than a full training program. Please ensure that your expectations are appropriate.

The above courses were offered at last year’s Jamboree. The following are new:

  1. Lake Canoe Skills Tandem Intermediate, $133
  2. Waterfront Skills Instructor Course, $208. There is an advanced component to this course. At the camp, you would participate in the basic component only. Should you wish to do the advanced course component, you may do so at the same price by booking directly with Grand Experiences for another weekend within the 2019 season. This course is only available to those who are 16 years of age and older. There are no exceptions to this rule.

This is open to Timber Wolves and up. Timber Wolves will be limited to Waterfront Canoe Skills for those who have no canoe experience and Basic for those who have limited experience.

If you are interested in any of these courses, please complete the Canoe training expression of interest form by February 24, 2019. Please direct questions to Mike Cornish or Shane Durham.
